I've heard, never reliably though, that others will release in times of stress, mainly in the self preservation mode. I admit I don't know ad much about them as I would like but, I do know they are not an easy fish to care for and do not make great fish for first time marine. The info is appreciated, I'm now on a quest to find more about Ostraciids. My biggest downfall is once I get my curiosity piqued about something I have to learn everything I can about it (drives the wife insane).pufferfreak wrote:Dado only white spotted boxfish commonly release their ostracitoxin if at all since that is their primary defense. If carbon is cycled through the tank and large water changes are made than you can reduce the death of tank mates and corals. Ostraciids are not necessarily a "advanced" aquarist fish but more of a fish that the person needs to know what the fish can do.
