I also do not have a puffer.

The same thing is here though, I want to try out a Abei or Fangs Puffer, and my petstore will order anything.
If you have a puffer, and it's happy. Then you are a good person.

Some people say puffers are just a fish, they aren't just a fish, they're a living organism that actually has a mind! And we're killing them, just look at the video.

Stop it! Stop the pollution! Get a life and do something.

Not at all! SAPs vs. fahakas vs. Congos vs. irrubescos vs. suvattis vs. DPs - they're not at all alike!
All of them are the same color except for the occasional red congo and i will give it to you that fahakas look different.
Oh, c'mon. There are greens and browns and blacks and yellows and reds and spots and stripes and speckles. There are rounded or flat body bellies and sharp or blunt noses. Even between two similar-looking species, there are subtle but beautiful differences. Just because they don't have the sharp, bright colors of a valentini or the blue eyes of a porc doesn't mean that they aren't amazing to look at!

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I have never been down the road of FW puffs and probably never will. They just don't catch my attention like marine ones do.

I was thinking about a Congo. If they were to come in at the store I'd definately buy one, but I dunno. The LFS said they can order any puffer that their supplier has in stock... Tey might not stock the kinds that I want for a while.

But I'll be patient.

---

I find freshwater puffers just as nice as any marine puffer, PF. But, to every man his own opinion, I suppose.

Welcome to the Forum Chips21, You should start out with three Carinotetraodon travancoricus or dwarf puffers. One male and two females..Go to the top of the page and select "Learn" and then "pufferpedia" this will show you the types of puffers you can get, their requirements, ect...And as always you can ask us if you need any help!

Freshwater? Hmm...better get a Congo. No wait, get a suvatti! Better yet would be a turgidus...boy would I love a turgidus. No, cancel all that - get a palembangensis! Or, could you get a loan and have installed a 2000 gallon tank, and put a fahaka in it? Of course then, if you're getting a loan, you might as well just go saltwater, which is I'm sure what you want to do anyway. Then you could get a porc, and be one of the few people that actually give this fish enough room. Or...omg, get a mappa! What I wouldn't give to have a mappa! To me, that's THE puffer...well, maybe a reticularis would be up there with a mappa...plus maybe see if you could get a small school of valentinis working in that tank, too. If you put enough live rock in it, I bet you could sneak in a jactator and a solandri.

I hope that helps you decide on a puffer.

I vote a Congo puffer. They're somewhat easier to maintain than some puffers due to their limited size and freshwater requirements, and they look kind of like potatoes.
