I you want to save money on a syphon hose just go to a local hardware store and buy like 50ft of clear tubing for like 10$ then find something to attach to it to use as your widemouth opening. I already had a python but it was short so I got a tube thats barely smaller than the tube given in the kit and this way it slides into the original tube extending the length of the tube out my back door. But be aware that the longer your tube it will take a few more minutes to syphon out the desired amount of water. A shorter tube is faster but longer definetly less of a hassle. And those few extra min may save you a flood. when I refill I have a 30g tupperware container so Im not mixing 10-5g buckets of saltwater this way is more consistant. Then I just take a smaller bucket and dump it in. I have an old pond pump Im gonna clean up to use instead though so I can just drop it in the tank to syphon out water through its normal hose attachment. Then ill take my SW in the 30g tub and be able to reverse the process putting the pump in the tub syphoning/pumping the new water in from below the tank this way is much cleaner and involves much less lifting of buckets etc.

As long as the dechlor is added to the tank before filling, there should be no problem filling up with a hose. I do 90% WC on my discus tank this way & if they aren't bothered by this, i don't know what fish would.
