Thank you!!!! I' m really disgusted by the tratement of Betta splendens.

Yeah. People only see them in poor conditions, so they don't know how lively and entertaining they can be when they have the space to roam and the energy to play. They are absolutely gorgeous when they have a good diet and are in good health. And they're smart, too! My little boy is in front of me on the desk right now in a lightly-filtered 5g, absolutely pampered with Indian almond leaf and Atison's pellets and frozen and live worms, and he's happy as a clam. He loves watching me do my homework. He actually has more personality than my puffers. *dodges rotten vegetables being thrown by puffer purists*

It's fantastic!!! I have seen on the web an horrible tratement on Betta : http://www.vergari.com/acqua/foto/varie ... a_vase.jpg When I go to the shop and I see Betta into a glass...I feel a great pain. It's not like to live in a rice field.....the people thinks the Betta doesn't need care or space to swim....it's really a great type of ignorance! YOUR BETTA IS LUCKY!!

I got my betta (six-month-old halfmoon) from a professional private breeder, so he was bound to go to a good home! But my personal policy is that for every "high-quality" betta I buy, I will also adopt a cull or a rescue. So, my next betta will probably be a breeder cull.

Yeah, the vases are really stupid. They can be okay if you do the 100% water changes every couple of days, heat them, trim back the roots to give them space, and feed them, but the directions that they give you with the vase are worthless. Alive isn't the same thing as healthy or happy.
