I suggest hanging out here & asking lots of questions about the proper way to keep your puffer & how to deal with brackish water. Maybe a FW puffer is in your future instead? How long have you been keeping fish in general?

yeah well i have to fully cycle my tank again so it wont be for another month or 2 until i get any fish

ive had fish for about a year. had a red eye puffer for about 6 months

but ill forsure ask more questions if im not sure about things.. i just dont want to be a pest and ask a billion questions

We'd rather you ask the Qs, than hear of a puffer's death. Just try to keep them all in the same thread. It's when folks start a new thread with each Q that I find a little annoying.

I'm pretty sure your tank is the same dimensions(or close to) as my BW f8 puffer tank. I had an old plastic trap door hood on it, it was really nasty, and I decided to overhaul the hood and light. This morning I just went to petsmart and got an all-glass(Marineland) lid for it for only $20, it made a HUGE difference in the amount of light that actually made it to the aquarium, and looks alot better. You can also buy fluorescent fixtures for $40 or less, if youre not growing plants or corals you dont have to be too picky, you can always just buy a different kind of bulb instead of replacing the whole fixture, once you already have one.
