Very serious indeed. Kiwi just died.

I gave him one dose of Maracyn Plus out of desperation, but it didn't do any good. The skin that was flaking on the outside seemed to be flaking on the inside too, nad he would spit out bits of skin. I am devastated.

I hope that someone can tell me what this was, and if I need to be concerned for the rest of the fish that had shared the tank with him.
Also, I had moved the Fluval filter from the big tank to the quarantine tank because the filter that came with that tank was not for salt water. I would like to move it back now, but is there any risk in doing that? I also moved some rocks in there too, which would be a lot harder to disinfect (if that is necessary).
Poor poor Kiwi.

Being that he was in the tank with the other fish all this time, if they are going to get this disease they would already have it.

It may not be visible just yet, so moving the filter back onto the main tank shouldn't matter. But before you move it please wait for someone with more expereince.
Sorry that you lost Kiwi.

I too was thinking earlier when I first viewed that video that it looked like Vibrio but have never seen another puffer beside the porc get it. Also I don't know if tennisball has added anything to the tank in order to introduce this highly contagious disease. Could your puffer have got stung by the lion fish??? So sorry for your loss

.

I doubt it was a from the lionfish, but I really can't say for certain as I don't watch them continuously. Fabio (the lionfish) is pretty mellow, though he does give a short chase to one of the triggers now and then. More of a 'piss off' message. The eel and the lionfish actually 'snuggle' or so it appears. The eel weaves himself in amongst the lion fishes 'feathers' adn just stays there for a time. It's the most curious thing. Anyway, Fabio never paid any attention to Kiwi at all, so I doubt that's it.
spongebob, that picture 'kind of' looks like it, but the colouring is a bit different. White on the edges like that though. Here are a couple of pictures, what do you think? Is that picture Vibrio? I tried googling vibrio, and all I can find is reference to humans getting it from fish.
I moved the filter back to the tank, but I dumped all the water out first and rinsed it, just in case Kiwi had released any toxins in death.

I think it is the same but coloration can be a bit off on some of it.

So what is that then? Vibrio? If so, do you know where I can find more information on it? I searched the library, and googled it. Maybe it has another name?

tennisball, I'm going to send a PM to a member here who doesn't have time to monitor the forum but is extremely experienced in marine puffer diseases and have her take a look, okay?
