There are other sports your dog can do other than racing (Kal coughs like that sometimes too), like Go-to-Ground, Barn Hunt, Brush Hunt, Ball Toss, etc..
Hi
Thanks for the dog tips , im going to check that out !! What do you to to help his coughing ? I think his throat gets to dry and he gags, I just get so nervous . I am going to check out the local JRT Club here i found it online last night . IM confused about dkh and kh ? My test kit Tetra laborett just has a test for kh and that is 12 . Can you tell me a test kit you would suggest ? I used the lfs RO water but I have instant ocean should I use that and mix it myself on my next water change ?

I have a Lamotte test kit. I do believe you mean dKH & 12 is very high. I keep my alk at 8-9. It's gotta be the salt they are using. IO is excellent for a FO system. What substrate are you using? How much LR?
Kal seems to get something stuck in is throat & then he coughs it out & he's fine. Doesn't seem to happen when he's actually in a race but when he's barking a lot or racing around the yard.

THanks ! I will use IO next water change . I have black live sand and bio balls in the sump , no live rock . I can go and buy some today , are the bio balls bad ? It came with my tank. I have to go by the store today . So should i do anything to lower the dkh ? DO another water change ? I will do whatever you think , thanks so much for helping me . Im talking Jackson to the agility park today !! He will just love it and im not going to be an over protective mother with him coughing , I will let you know how it turns out !

What I'd do is slowly replace most of that fake stuff with live rock. Make sure it's cured (no die off) or you'll have to cure it in a bucket. Make some caves out of LR for your puffer. No need to change any of the chemistry in your water, WC with the IO will do that.
IMO, I'd replace those bioballs with a fuge.
