Ok Im guessing the H2O-PURE is for FW? And I was wondering if Tetra Safestart is any cheaper? If so where do I get it?

I'm no expert, but from what I've heard couldn't you just grab a decoration or some of your filter media from one of your etablished tanks?

If you have another established tank, yes you can use the filter media, rocks, decor etc.

Yah I realized that I could do that after I started this thread, but these products are useful if u want a quick cycle. And now I know what to get if i do need them

You can move some things over from an established tank but the filter is the best thing to move, as it contains much more benefitial bacteria than anything else in the tank & that's only if there were enough fish living in that tank to support the bioload of a puffer.

Hmmm..after reading this,being UK the only product out of those 3 I can get is the Tetra Safestart - which wont be the stuff to set up a GSP tank. Doh.
I really am going have to see if there is anyone with a similar salinity that will loan me filter/sand to set up (unfortunately am limited as local LFS are fresh or salt, not brackish).
Only options are to contact guy eventually buying the GSP from and see if he can (though lives an hour away..will the good stuff survive this long as long as have the tank up and running and can literally pour in?) or..they probably wont but have a local oceanarium (quite a large one) who I could try and beg, though being public and all may not be able to, also not sure on the brackish again.
Any other suggestions? (not rotting prawns!!!)

If he keeps the substrate, filter, and decorations with a little water during transportation, then you could just set everything back up from there and have an automatically cycled tank. That's how I plan to deal with moving out of my dorm.

How safe after using the Tetra Safestart would it be safe for a puffer to be in the tank?
Reason I ask is that as a kinda housewarming present from my bf (he is moving with me but oh well
) he has bought us a new Eheim professionel 3 for Winston's tank I am taking his old filter, but I won't be able to have the filter running for at least a day anyway.
Would it be worth simply setting up the new filter and using the Safestart?
He does have a small quarantine tank set up and ready for him, but since I bought it he's had a big growth spurt (typical ) and I don't want to have him in such a small tank for too long 
also I can't fit either the new or old filter onto this tank.
If I could I would simply change the sponges etc over, but as my old filter is a Fluval 305 I'm not sure it will fit
