I can already see a little red on her. Keeping my fingers crossed that she will get those beatuiful red stripes. Also while watching her she was blowing the substrate around. She's so cute.

I can just sit there and watch her for hours but Elvis gets jealous.

It looks like she lives in a mangrove forest. Do you have a FTS?

Yes I do.

I got it off drsfostersmith. I put java fern in the cracks and some anubias, it made it look a little more real. When she gets moved she will have the real thing.

My fahaka was motteled and not very red in color for the first 4 months I had him but after he got some size to him he turned red and has very defined lines. I believe it was more diet than anything else. when he was large enough to start chomping through clams and other shelled food he really darkened up. Snails and bloodworms just didn't give him what he needed to color up i think.
They are awesome fish! My roomate thinks the fahaka is the scary fish!!! He is scary cause he is always watching us....its like he knows to much.

Full Tank Shot

I thought you asked if I had a fake tree stump. Yes I also have a full tank shot. She's in a 28 gallon until I get my new tank, move Elvis and get his tank set up for her. This is going to be in about 5-6 weeks.
She is about 3" so I'm sure she will be ok for the next 2 months. I have some guppies in her tank that have been in there for over 6 months. I wanted to see if she would let them live or go after them. So far she has not bothered them, she even swims through the fry and hasn't bothered them either. I wanted to test her to see if I can sneak some otto cats or Chinese Algae Eaters in her new tank to help control the algae. I know it's not a definate yes or no because of their temperment but I do have another tank I will be able to move them too if she decided they are lunch. My new tank is on backorder

but should be here in 3 weeks. I have everything ready for the move. I just don't have any patience! I want it now! For Annabelle's tank I have some nice driftwwood and rocks ready to go. I need to get more substrate get it cleaned and some plants. I have 2 rena xp3's that I will be putting on her tank and I want to get a new stand before I set it back up. I already have the stand picked out, I just need to order it. On her tank that she is in now I have an Eheim 2213 that I'm going to move over to the 125G until the rena's cycle. The 2213 has been on this tank for about a year. Lot's of work to do and things to get, but once it's set up I'll post pictures of her new home.

Meanwhile here is what she is in now:

Well I tried to feed Ms. Annabelle a mussel today. She looked at it, swam around it, then decided it was bigger than her and a little scary.

She hid behind the stump and kept a close eye on it.

Finally I removed it and gave her a piece of shrimp which she enjoyed. I know it's going to take her some time to eat other things so I will keep trying. I'm just so grateful that TNT aquatics was feeding her shrimp and not live food. I think the transition will go smoothly once she figures out there's other things she can eat. She's definately a little piggy and I'm sure she will be nice and fat in no time.

I think guppies probably aren't worth bothering to chase.

Annabelle is going to be a killer. This morning I noticed that she was chasing the adult guppies. There are a ton of fry in the tank that she totally leaves alone. I got her food ready after I soaked it in prazipro (for ip treatment) and she ate it up. Now she's just sitting on the bottom with a full tummy and guppy fry swimming all around her head. She is keeping a close eye on them but it's the adults that don't get near her. Uh oh.... an adult was on the bottom about 5" away with it's tail toward her face and she just went after it. The good news is, the guppies have also been eating her food that's soaked in prazipro.

Looks like my test is over. My baby is a killer.

Well I have been trying to get Annabelle to eat something besides shrimp. Yesterday I got her to eat just a few bites of a mussle. This morning she tried crab and she likes it.

Finally something with a hard shell. She was crunching away.
