so far i have given him one tablet soaked with his food. per the directions, i can treat him again with 48hrs inbetween treatments. it has been almost 48hrs since last treatment. should i treat just the tank this time? or both the tank and his food? if both, how many tablets for food and how many for the tank?

I personally would treat both the tank and his food. The dosing shouldn't be any different this time; do what you did for your first treatment, providing you followed the directions. From what I've seen in this forum, it seems like three days in a row treating their food is recommended.
