why would your dogface need to defend himself..?

it seems that puffers defend by pufing/part puffing rather than biting... but i'm no expert.


You could always try it, and see how it works out, with the understanding from the shop that if you come across problems you could return him....

if he remains toothless, at least you'd know what to do, some one else might not have the time/patience/love of puffers to make it work..

yea i agree ^^^ give the little darling a try, itll be better than if someone else who had no experience with puffers and no time took him and the poor guy suffered and died

No they never fought or nipped. Don't make me feel guilty about not getting him. I'm trying to make excuses for myself. If I get the dog face I would have to get a larger tank instead of moving them into the tank I already have.

The dog face is wicked cute!!! I'd love to get one but I don't have the room. I have a Dragon Wrasse in my tank, his name is Harry, He disappears at night by burying himself under the substrate. He never lets a piece of food hit the bottom, he is totally hysterical, he moves all the substrate in his tank. We actually went to our lfs and bought some larger pieces of crushed coral so he can actually have something else to move! When our porcupine puffer was alive he was sharing a tank with her and he never challenged her for food!! Good luck with your new wrasse!

Its nice to see a responsiable aquarium keeper. You obviously know the limitations of your system and will not jeopordize the health of your system or its inhabitants by adding a specimen thats to large or that may not get along with its tank mates. Just thought I'd comment on that as it sometimes seems to be a rarity in the aquarium keeping hobby. But on the other hand upgrading can be fun

didn't realise you'd have to upgrade again to get him, never mind eh.. sure someone will help him out soon...

give the LFS this sites address, then they can pass it on to the new keeper when they come along.
