Content..you aren't going to believe this but I looked again today and he has a red spot on his right side!!!! His colors have constantly come out since I got him a few days ago!!!

I also see slight red but in truth seeing some examples like the babies above its not enough red to be a Cochinchinensis. I think it is a Turgidis, mine with time has shown more color but the red is real slight on the target area. Azza where are you located? I wouldn't be surprised if the LFS's that we purchased our puffers from use the same distributor they look to be the same even in age and size. So if we can figure out what one of ours is we should be able to solve the mystery once and for all.

I live in Toronto. Was walking through China town here into some garden store and they had puffers waaay at the back in a few aquariums.

Maybe not then although who knows what distributors are used. Interesting place to find a puffer though! Did you even know they had fish there? How is your puffer doing, mine is starting to accept frozen krill greadily along with the ghost shrimp and snails. Going to try a frozen cockle again real soon.

To be honest, he's the most boring fish I've ever ever had but I respect him for what he is nevertheless. Not responding to when I toss frozen krill in there...the only time he moves is at night when im not there...understandably so I guess. I've only seen him actually swim twice in the past week...but he looks very healthy. Going to move him into maybe a 35G low/but wide tank. 55G is a waste on him alone. I should have a baby Fahaka coming in the next fews days which im very excited about.

Yeah mine is a bit more active but still a far cry from a fish thats swims around a lot.

Mine can be seen lunging at ghost shrimp, sometimes even scoring a hit and ripping one in half and then eating but mostly flat out missing. Mine will also come out for frozen Krill I thaw in Garlic Guard which I put in front of him with my tongs and make it seem semi living. I really don't see much free swimming though which is definately a let down. I am going to get a 30g for two F8's. A local fish store owner successfully breeds his by cicyling on and off of brackish water, adjusting water levels and changing the temp. So I may try and copy him.

I'll try your suggestion of using tongs....guess it was too much to expect him to actually get off his butt and get his own food.

Lol why would he get off his butt food is supposed to come to him that seems to be their attitudes. I think we have puffers with entittlement issues.

Maybe I'll put my Fahaka in with him to provide some inspiration!! heehee...kidding folks..just kidding.

If its a young Fahaka I see the Turgidis winning, these are mean little SOBs

I think it is a T. cochinchinensis because there is an ocellus evident.

T. turgidus has no ocellus.

Yeah then mine is also a fangs like i originally guessed as mine has an ocellus evident. Thank you Jupp for finally clearing it up.

He is by far the most boring fish I've ever had.....doesn't move...at all...never even seen him swim more than a few inches...or eat.....sigh.
