you have to accumilate...any type of fish no matter if freshwater or other...if not you'll put them into shock..and most likely they will not recover..if you've had a tank for more than 3 years..I would think you would know that...and YES..mollies can live in either freshwater or brackish...but brackish is best for them...unless they are breeding...more on the fresh end....but can still breed in brackish water....

Thanks for the response...I have had the tank for 3 years, however I have always had a GSP in it that was in a brackish tank when I got him from the LFS so I didnt have to acclimate him to my salinity, I just matched the salinity of the LFS when I set up the tank...these F8s are the first time I have gotten a brackish fish that was kept in freshwater at the fish store, so it is my first time acclimating them to a different salinity...I have no experience with mollies, and didnt even know they were brackish as they are not listed in any books as a brackish fish, so I really didnt know what would be best for them...I didnt want to stress them any more than necessary when bringing them home...also, others mentioned that they are extremely hardy and get along in almost any environment, so I was just "confirming" what to do with them to put them in my tank...

I am not trying to be defensive but I did find your statement "if you had a tank for 3 years...I would think you would know that" to be a little offensive. It implies that 1) I am lying and I didnt have a tank for that long, or 2) that I am a moron that isnt paying attention to my fish...

I am just trying to do what is right here and to make sure I am treating these fish they way they need to be treated.
