I'm really looking forward to getting the skimmer and LR installed, as I worked out that my 25% weekly water changes require 1.5Kg of salt

Re: The rise continues...
lol yea salt is outrageously expensive here in the states i presume it is there in the UK too, with the 6 lbs of live rock and no skimmer (am planning on about 15lbs more LR then skimmer) i can do a 35-40% WC every 10 days and still keep nitrates in good shape for my corals, i just need money to allow me to buy the rest of my LR and my skimmer, im gonna go with a CPR bakpak tho i really like the aquac remora but i can get the bak pak for around 90$ were as the remora is more like 140

Re: The rise continues...
the last 10Kg bucket I bought cost me £40, approx $79, but it is tropic marin pro reef salt... how much does it cost over there?
got a couple of 200 litre barrels of DI water on order through work, I'm still running it on dechlorinated tap water as if it was still high brackish, but will start to swap over a WC at a time, installing the skimmer and canister are first priority though

Re: The rise continues...
very nice indeed
I can't decide on the position of the rock at the moment, although I don't think it really matter yet as there's more to go in over the next few months

that is a bloody amazing deal!!!
I though I was getting a good deal when I got 7Kg for £30 as it usually sells for about £13/Kg over here.

Re: The rise continues...
well the guys selling it buy im not gonna be able to get it, he hasnt gotten back to me in time and im leaving for my trip down there and its about 95 miles away so i dont wanna make another trip, but i already found another guy thats gonna sell me 25lbs at 2$per lb plus alot of corals so im happy!
yea you just have to find a reef club and buy it from people that are taking a tank down or something then they will sell it for really cheap, in a shop up here its about the same price as yours (i think not sure on the lbs to kg and lbs to $ conversions lol) but look for a UK type of reefcentral they might actually have some on there idk

Re: The rise continues...
its been really interesting reading all of this. makes me ponder what to do with my gsp in the future. so far little spot is up to 1.010 sg in his 30 gal home. the higher the sg goes, the more active he seems. his color also seems to have changed a little. his green is more green than neon and his belly is so so so white except when hes asleep.
i still havent made up my mind whether to go full marine when hes completely grown.
