ok, I too have a fish that seems like this one. I'll post some pictures I took of him last night- sorry they aren't the best but he is REALLY camera shy!

I would like to know what he is so I can stock his tank for what he needs- if he IS what I think he is, poor little guy is going to have to deal with solitary confinement!

sakana_janai: That is very likely an Auriglobus species, not a Xenopterus. the Auriglobus are compressed laterally, the Xenopterus are quite round to even slightly laterally broader than they are tall - more like a Fahaka in cross-section. They are FW fish, very nippy, active while young but more reclusive as adults.

I believe I have already answered your question of your puffer's ID. It is a FW A modestus.
