Auriglobus modestus

well i hit a snag my car was sideswiped and pretty much totaled ( my it rest in piece ) so i have to get a new one to get to work ( i can use the bus for school) and i cant afford anything i had to borrow money to cover my chunk of the rent so where i was going to make room for it i need to do other stuff first ill try again with next years tax return

and to get that bigger tank i was going to have to put one of my figure 8s in the living room one of my 20 longs in my either kitchen or bathroom cailm my room mate down then put my desk and computer into storage ( it would be worth it but all that smoothing and scrimping doesnt seem worth it now that i have some major needs and no saveings ( life sucks sometimes but i still have my fish and friends so its not to bad)

Absolutely do not put that modestus in with anoy other puffers, even another modestus! Mine wiped out a tank with a modestus, 3 SAPs & a DP. all in 1 night.

wow thats extreme but each puffer is different right and one would be sleeping while the other forages and there both so timid im probaly going to give it more thought but im going to float it and see in a few days when im changeing some water up

the floating alone couldn't hurt anything if i see them paying a bit to much attention for my liking or aggression then its a no go but maybe it could work theres always a aception

most of the "modestus" that come into the stores are in fact auriglobus silus. while i have never had problems with my modestus, all the silus have turned more than aggressive with higher ade while they where o.k. as juveniles. at a size of about 10 cm they start killing each other and their food habits change to eating fins of other fish radically.

i got this one because he has been around forever in the pet store and wanted to see him have a good home when he isnt tempted with community fish ( pluse i love puffers and the more the marrier ) but hes about 2 inches so i think hell be ok im sure hes probably a. modestus unless there are some characteristics that can define them

when it comes down to it ill probaly end up useing my desk ( which i like to read and pay bills and study at ) and put which ever single puffer is more active and social and put them on it ( giving me next to no room but opening a space else where for a tank or 2 ( i want at least a qorintene (sp) tank 2 would be better one brakish one fresh then room for a 3rd if possible for the more important salt ( or i can just do salt and fresh and acclimate the fish up to brackish after qorintene) i value the advice i get here and usualy it rings through my head when i go agenst it in the end for the sake of my puffers and other fish i do whats right before its to late ( have only lost 1 fish in 2 year and he choked on a shirmp) and that says something becouse my eel came from mejiers and wasnt qorentened becouse of a lack of a set up

I actually find it to be the opposite. Most A. Modestus are sold as A. Silus.

Jimi, yes, all puffers have a unique personality. However, I'd listen to PufferPunk on this one. Hers went on a rampage, and, even though mine was a community, I would not follow my example and put it in with anything else that it can get it's teeth on. I have my Silus in with 3 Zebra Danios, and they do great. But I'd suggest against putting it with other puffers.

it was a thought and would be a convenience but i dont think i can bring it to myself for put my sweet little red eye in wiht my bronze hes to timid even though my bronze is timid to there 2 different levels

the bronze is cool because when i sit infront of his tank im am also in front of the figure 8s ( im right in between them ) and the figure 8s come and go as they please but the bronze will stay on the side im on probably begging food but it helped me feel better ( today sucked )
