So should we start the pool on how long that statement lasts?

No, I think it's for real this time. In fact, I've heard rumors that she is thinking of changing her SN to Anenomepunk or Coralpunk.

Hi mandycat,
I sent you a pm, in case you have any of the baileyi's left for sale.

Thanks to mandycat, and a lot of driving, I got a hold of one of these beauties. She's chilling in her own 29g tank.

Nice catch and great picture (POTM candidate?)! We will, of course, be expecting more details and regular updates.

Thanks for the comments!
The girl hairy puffer is doing great in my tank. She's buzzing around at the edge of the tank even now, as if she's wondering what I'm typing
I drove about 1 1/2 hours from Chicagoland to Milwaukee, WI to get this puffer (rain and all) but she's worth it
As for price, it's a secret but mandycat gave me a better deal than what it was selling for retail at the store ($179.99 was the retail price)
I'll keep people updated, and will probably start a new thread

Nice markings and cirri. On my monitor your Puff appears somewhat mauve. Is that an accurate color representation?

well, the pic does look like it has mauve (light purple?) stripes with dark green splotches, but that pic was taken before it could settle down in the tank. I would say that its default colors seem to be the same dark green splotches but a reddish-brown color rather than mauve (which looks brighter and more distinct imo than the mauve)
i'll post some more pics later after she has settled more. when I took the first set of quick pics, she didn't like the flash so I'm not going to take some more pics until she's fully transitioned into her new home

well, after 5 days, my puffer has started to look really lethargic and just lies on the bottom of the tank.... now I know why? She has these 3 splotches (3 of them) on her head and body. Looks like either fake fungus (bacterial infection) or most likely the real fungus since it's in splotches.
Either way, I used maryoxy for the fungus and maracyn 1&2 for the bacterial infection, after doing a 50% water change. She looks fine but boy am I worried. I'll be doing primafix and metafix as a followup but the hard-core med's come first.
no wonder she was so slow-moving! when I first got her she was buzzing all over the tank. Then all of sudden was hiding all the time, and I thought she was just adjusting.
there is plenty of live ghost shrimp and snails in the tank if she wants to eat which I have not seen yet. hopefully increased temp/salt will also help

How was the tank cycled? Parameters?

the tank had a bichir and a clown loach in there for a month before I put the puffer in there (after the bichir/loach was moved on the same day I put the puffer in). 0 nitrites/ 0 nitrates right now. the tank has plenty of filtration: emperor 400 filter plus powerhead 402.
I think the puffer was just stressed and may be scratched herself as she was transitioning into the new tank. She did puff once when I came into the room in the morning and turned on the lights all of a sudden (I don't do that anymore... no lights and until after the sun rises)
normally, whenever I get new fish, I always do a parasite/bacterial infection PRE-ventative but I skipped it with the puffer because I heard it's not a good idea for them... well, I have no choice but to use med's now but I'm really hoping she'll be OK. She is lethargic but doesn't seem to be straining, just resting on the bottom of the tank
if you have any more advice on what to do, I'm all ears
