Nematode worms in the organs and between organs are what can poison them after the worms die. These worms don't cause the kind of immediate weight loss you get with intestinal worms, so that should help you distinguish the conditions.

also, you would need a micro scope to see them if you decide to have a look. don't you have one of your fish in your fridge?

Unfortunately I tried dissecting the one I had in my fridge to see if I could see any larger worms. I didn't see anything so I had to throw out the remains.

Please keep the comments in this thread to the fish ID only & advise on what is happening with the poster's fish, in the other thread. It gets too confusing.

As far as the Puffernet site--it it mostly garbage & hasn't been updated since the 90's. If you look further into some of their advise & IDs you'll see how bad that site really is. I can't believe it's still there... anyway, there hasn't been a T schoutedeni available in the aquarium trade, in over 20 years, so you can pretty much guarantee you don't have that species.

Here are some pics of Daisy, my GSP that is about the same size as yours. I was going to say your puffer's jawline isn't right for a GSP, but in one of my pics, Daisy's belly is really distended and her face looks like your GSP in it. I'm thinking the jaw line looks weird on yours because their bellies are so distended. That black spot on the round of the belly doesn't look good. When Daisy is stressed, the black starts by the green and "bleeds" into the white of her belly.

I've noticed appearance of GSP heads, especially in smaller puffers, can be strongly influenced by how pudgy they are and how fat their bellies still are from their last feeding.

well it seems like I have GSP's, just either imperfect ones or ones that might be a bit too stuffed from eating. As far as gray/black on their bellies, I would have to say the one I have remaining has a gray belly for 90% of the time. Every once and a while it turns white, but not for long.
