I also forgot to tell you that he is in fw I want to start to convert him to bw. What do I need to do this and how much salt should I add at first and do you think this might be the problem with him not eating?

Focus on getting him better first. Then check out this section of the forum for acclimating him to brackish water:

So I should soak the food and not put it in the tank like it says. I don't think I can get him to eat. I also am going to do a w/c cuz the water isn't looking so good which is weird because I just got my levels right. I was just asking about the bw becasue I think that might be the problem he is in fw and I think hes too old to be in fw. I just wanted to know how much salt to put in my tank to start with

I went to the lfs to get the general cure and I came home to find my GSP had died. I feel so bad I wish I would have found out sooner that he was so sick! My my f8 is sick but at least I have the meds that I need. Thanks for all the help. I am going to do a water change and give him the meds. Thanks again you have been super helpful. I think I am going to stick with f8 they are eaiser to take care of!

Thank you so much. I do have another question, I just did a w/c and my levels are all at zero and I added the general cure, does anyone know how long this takes to work? My f8 is getting worse he is just floating around like he blind and he doesn't want any of his favorite foods. The directions say wait 48 hours to do another dose since I added it to the tank and then it says to do a 25% w/c after the last treatment. Can any one tell me if this works and how long it takes? I tried to soak the food in it but he wouldn't eat it so I added it to the tank

Sorry you lost your GSP

.
I have never used general cure. I would try contacting the company who makes it to get the info you need if no one here knows. There might be a # on the box or web address or try asking your LFS. I too hope your F8 pulls through.
Other question you had in case you didn't find it in the brackish tank article. You would start a brackish tank with .002 salt per week.

i used general cure on my gsp but it was recommended to me to cure only external parasites, not internal ones, which is probably why you should soak food in it instead of just adding it to the tank. as far as my experience goes, my gsp definately survived treatment unscathed but it didn't seem to have much beneficial effect. that is in regards to external parsites only though, it may be more effective when used with food.
it may just be my puffer, but he will honestly never refuse worms, have you tried feeding him those? earthworms would possibly be available at a fishing sport store, free of chemicals. have you tried garlic?

Well after trying the general cure, one of my f8s died and the other is still alive and eating but I don't know for how long. I just hope he makes it because this is my last try at puffers. As much as I love them they don't seem to love me and I hate hurting them so hopefully this one will pull through!

How do I soak the food in the meds? It says to just put it in the tank. I put one packet in the tank but he doen't seem to be getting better. Do I need certain kinds of food? I have freeze dried krill and bloodworms and frozen bloodworms that he is eating right now. I am still trying to more up the salt level but I don't knwo what it should be for a f8, and I don;t have marine salt yet. Is that the problem he's about 2.5" right now and I haven't had him long. I just want him to make it through this. He seems good for now but I know hes gonna stop eating and I want to help him before that happens

They ship to the US, similar to flubenol-15, works well just added to the water. This version has to be dissolved into boiling water, which is slightly annoying, but worthwhile.

I seriously need to get some of this. but since I'm scared to start a credit card, and my parents are quite reluctant to by on the internet, it hasn't happened yet.
