My GSPs are now friends with their lunch :-(

they aren't brackish, but once in with the brothers grimm they hopefully won't be alive long enough to really notice
Got a little 1' cube cycling at the moment, so hopefully in a month or two it should be more than just an occasional treat

ive had my gsp for a week now and up until 2 days ago had about 10 ghost shrimp living with him. they were ideed friends, they'd go up and down the sides of the tank side by side and Puffy would often swim silently behind them, hovering, yet never even opening his cute little mouth. then i fed Puffy some crickets and shortly after...i added a single cherry shrimp. Puffy went wild trying to get at it but it was too fast. my huge lazy ghostshrimp though, they bore the brunt of Puffy's frustration. all 10 gone in minutes as i ran back and forth looking for a net with which to rescue them. never seen Puffy so fat, and i swear he was smiling bigger than usual (yes, he often smiles for me! ). so if you really want your puffer to go for ghost shrimp you can try adding a single cherry shrimp to the mix (they are $2 each here!) or feeding him crickets and see if he goes for them then.

Often a smaller food item that resembles a larger one will make it "click" that the creature is food, and none will escape the beaky wrath.

I added about six to my tank yesterday, two are still alive, hiding by the heater in the corner of the tank. I never had any idea how aggressive and quick my puffer could get, she just gobbles them up in one go and continues on like nothing happened.
