I'm sorry to hear that. Do the other fish show any signs of sickness?

I'm sorry for your loss. If it was dropsy, it rarely spread to other fishes, luckily. But it can happen, so keep a close eye on the fishes for a little while.

I'm afraid the battle was lost before you gave him any med. When they get huge, it's only the last stage of the illness, and then it's gone too far. But I have heard of similar cases that wasn't dropsy, and that was curable. Someone I know had several corys that got very big. It was strange, because you wouldn't suspect several corys get dropsy at the same time. Esha 2000 (works against fungus and bacterial infections) cured the condition, to my big surprise (and to our big relief).

Argh. One of my other fish is acting weird. I noticed yesterday she had a sore on one of her sides and I hurried to clean out my hospital tank out and get it set up. I let it run with the extra filter from the tank she's in now and let the temp. adjust before putting her in. Before I moved her I noticed she was swimming strangely. I panicked thinking it was somehow ammonia poisoning, but my ammonia is at 0. My next thought is swim bladder, so I offered her peas yesterday. She refused to eat them, so now I'm starving her for a few days and trying again later. What is with my fish lately???

I have no idea where the gash on her came from, and I'm really frustrated. I think today I'm going to take out all the decor and go to the LFS and buy some better lighting, CO2 tablets, fertilizer, and a ton of live plants.
