Had a couple over the years!

#1.

Cod-liver is nutritious food, and tasty too!
Probably well suited as fish food...
Dumped a substantial chunk into my 100 gallon Malawi biotope.
NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!

Fish went bananas and had a liver-party!
But, cod-liver is extremely high in fat.
Which dissolved into the water.
Stuck on the glass...
Stuck on substrate and decorations.
Stuck on the fish.
Sealed off the water surface effectively, depriving fish of oxygen.

Had to demolish the system completely.
Wash & scrub every bleeding thing.
Never again will I be so STUPID!!!

Was going to work abroad for a couple of weeks.
Organized feeding for the fishtanks.
Now; what to do with the snail-tank?
At least 50 snails who needs regular feeding?
Grand idea; I will drop a carrot (of all things) into the tank.
That should keep them busy for a couple of weeks!
Hmmm....

When I came back I was met by a horrid stench.
Said carrot had dissolved into the water, turning the tank into a container filled with putrid & rotting carrot juice mixed with 50+ rotting snails.
Never again will I be so STUPID!!!

oooh that sounds horrid, I think #1 sounds worse though, poor little fish. I knw what that carrot smell is like though. I store my water change water in a big water butt for use on the garden. I thought that if I put other organic things into the water butt it would rot and give the plants more nutrients, in went flower headsleaves and household veg matter including carrots. I was quite please with the idea until I opened it after a spell of a few hot days and it was actully bubbling and the smell nearly knocked me over Needles to say I stopped that procedure there and then!!!! The garden was looking lovely though

we also once went on vacation when I lived in AL. well my grandma came by to check on things and decided to shut off the AC to save the electric bill. when we got back, we arrived to the smell of rotten fish and the sight of our first pet bass boiled. we took the temp before we cleaned everything up... 98 degrees F!

no, he didn't misbehave, just met an unfortunate demise. also, it was pretty icky by the time we got home.

OMG, Woland I see your first story like a video in my mind.
I think that one will top the list of most funny stories. BTW cod liver tastes very good, I agree with you. But I always feel sick after one single piece, because it's so fat. Well, I won't feed liver to my fishes then.

A mistake I haven't done myself, but someone I know managed to (by mistake) drink a mouthful of Pepsi with lots of bloodworms in it. She felt sick a very long time afterward.

I almost did that!
The bloodworms melted and got in the ice machine so I got ice in my cup saw worms and almost screamed.
I gave it to my little cousin!...............Just kidding

She put frozen bloodworms into a cup, and went to feed her fish (she has lots of tanks, so I imagine it was pretty much). On her way, she stopped by her computer, to write something. Absent minded, she poured Pepsi into the cup and drank.

Oh I just remembered 2 of mine!!
1 time, when I had dwarf puffers in a 5 gallon tank on the kitchen table, my mom did a water change while I was sleeping. She added a little ph down not realizing it wasn't ph up (just a little bit like we always used) so the tank had a huge ph drop and all the puffers died. Of course coincidentally an electrical fire started down in my dads office so while her and my dad dealt with that she forgot tocheck the puffers. The next morning they were all dead. The really weird thing... I had a dream that exact thing happened about 3 months before!

Another time I was sick with bronchitis, really bad (I ended up in the hospital a week later for it) so I noticed the temo was off on my discus tank. I played with it and since it was one of those crummy ones where it says higher or lower with no real temp, I didn't realize how high I made it! That morning I found my discus fried in my tank.

I just thought of a great one!!!

When I was around 6 or 7, my dad decided to get a sw tank. He got a 30 gallon tank, crushed coral substrate, hob filter, and some fake plants and dead coral.

He used damsels to cycle the tank.

He then bought a yellow tang, lion fish (not dwarf), a porcupine puffer, anemone, and I'm sure a bunch of other fish I can't remember.

The tank actually lasted for probably around 6-9 months, can't remember exactly.

One day, all of the fish started losing their skin. Their skin just starting falling off. It was the most disgusting thing EVER.

All of the dead fish were removed and most of the water was taken out. The tank sat there for over 10 years until I decided to take it with me to my home. It was terrible washing it out. The cc was solidified in the bottom of the tank, with the plants and coral stuck in it and the stand it all icky from water and salt but, now its Milton's home!

So when I got into SW fish a year ago I asked my dad "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING! All those fish grow to be giants!" His response was, "When they grew, it would be an excuse to get a bigger tank!" He isn't allowed to have fish ever again.

Hey! I'm gonna use that excuse to get myself a 240!!!!

Actually, I'm gonna get myself a job, hopefully at a LFS.

I tried to get a job at my LFS, they kept blowing me off cause they knew I would use my discount.

When I first got my tank, I cycled it with damsels. I had dead corals and stuff like that and I had to bleach them to keep them clean. I just started and my stepdad was helping me and took out some of the stuff for me. He stuck the stuff in the bleach and I took some of the dead corals outside to rinse and remove the bleach. I bumped into the door on my way out and a dead damsel fell out of the coral! It was a acro skeleton and the fish used to hide in it cause they were small enough to fit. That fish stayed in there and we killed it!

All my LFS said to wait till I'm 18 so it's not so physically demanding as your are pretty much done developing and it requires lots of labor. Otherwise they would have had me working a year ago!

depending on where you live crazedpuffer they might not be able to hire under aged peeps
