Well, another trick is just to black-out the tank for a couple weeks. Kinda sucks that it's always dark, but if your tank is in a room with a window, it's not so bad during the day. If you have plants, though... well, it'll kinda suck... :/

I read somewhere that a guy got rid of cyanos putting phosphate remover and taking all the big cyano focus during the water changes... but it took almost 6 months to show some effect.

In my planted tank I used antibiotic to get rid of it, it worked out fine but I messed with the bacterial filtration... so far cyanos didn't show their faces in my planted tank and I have nitrates almost at ZERO level and phosphate at 0,5mg/l .

Tried the black-out... worked at first, not anymore... I think I bred a dark resistant strand!

And I do have a phosphate buffer, problem is my water already has 0,25 phosphate, so I realised that I'd need tons of it to get the phosphate out of the clean water and then control the phosphate from the wastes... I used up a month ful of phosphate buffer in like 10 days!! (it's little rocks similar to charcoal and it buff only phosphate and won't release it once it's trapped).

Oh well, things are much better since I stoped adding the KNO3! I'll try to keep lighting for 6-8 hours only and manualy removing as much as I can see if it at least controls it! I dare not use antibiotics... don't want to put my fish trhough a bacteria crash, they've had enough trouble already!!!
