well i already have a silver aro, 3 ocellaris pbass, clown knife, 2 blood parrots, and a gibbiceps pleco. not looking to get a mbu anytime soon, but i suppose when the time comes i could grow out the mbu in another tank with some dithers and add it to the main tank and see if it works out, if not i will keep it alone or sell him to someone with the proper accomodations of course.

How's this for tankmates? One large male Moba 11" and three females 6-8" all wc peacefully co-existing with my 9" Mbu (Leroy). The Mobas have actually spawned a few times.I have two Mbu puffers and both have opposite personalities. Leroy very peaceful and doesn't bother anyone and Doug who wants to destroy everything.lmao!

Yes,I have two. Both are presently in 180 gal tanks.
Moba are a variant of Cyphotilapia Gibberosa. They used to be all Cypho.Frontosa until recently when reclassified. Mobas are a "blue" variant like Kitumba and Kapampa and a lot of folks just call all of them Zaire Blue Frontosa or Gibberosa.

dmopar74 wrote:no tank for life yet, but im not even considering buying one till i do my research, and if a mbu cant go with the fish i listed then im not getting one. yes i know its a gamble putting a mbu with tankmates but surely somebody has to have tried mbu's with larger fish. prob looking at going 600-800g eventually.
my first bit of advice - if you dont have a big enough tank yet dont get a mbu the fish stress very easilly!
second bit of advice is community tank is FANTASTIC! i would steer clear of p bas or aros with MBUs. Ive kept 4 Mbus over the last 8 years and have 2 currently. They will Never cause trouble from my expierence. this said my MBU will Bite if a fish is hounding him! so agressive fish are a nono as the MBU will kill most things quite easilly in defence. My current large mbu bubba is abou 17-18" and hes very very soft. I would recomend any tetras barbs and loaches get a mixture or blue acaras are lovely large fish with fairly good temprements! i woudl steer clear of catfish or plecos with mbus because they can be seen as a easy meal if your mbu was that way inclined.
