Well I am actually using Sterazin.
I nipped down to my LSH and got some today.

After calling Dartford Aquatics, the guy on the phone was very helpful and said he thought it looked like a better product for the job.
His boss is going to call me later today, to let me know if he has any other ideas, and also to let me know if I can get my money back on this fish f he doesn't make it.
Lets hope that doesn't happen. In the short while I have had this little fish I have got quite attached

Will keep you updated on how I get on.

Pandaking, Sterazin looks fine to me, can you post what it's made of, the active components? Please let us know how your fish ARE doing!

Well the Sterazin treatment has begun.
I forgot to add, I saw him poo today. First off, it was white/clearish, then it was brownish not very long, and was trailing out of him for about 2 hours.

The other one pooped again today, and it was about 5 times as long, and all dark brown, and it only trailed out of him for about 3 mins.

I have got some photos of the skin problem:

Interestingly enough he is now not on the bottom of the tank, but in the water flow form the filter.

Well brown poo sounds good. I would use a combination of Melafix and Pimafix to treat the skin problem and to aid healing. To be honest i'm amazed he aint dead with how skinny he is so he must be a fighter. Food meds and pristine water and heres hoping he'll pull through.

I think I will worry about the skin condition later, my first problem is to get him eating and get rid of his internal nasties.
Once he is eating properly, and the internal parasite treatment is finished, I will get fixing the skin problem.

Unless you think the skin problem has caused him to stop eating and lose weight?

Sometimes the skin diseases can cause distress (depending on what they got it from) and it can cause fungal infections, which will cause a lot more problems later on. Melafix is an organic extract (tea tree oil, I believe), so you don't need to worry about it hurting your puffers. I'm not sure what's in Pimafix, but I'm sure it's a similar type of product. The idea is to reduce the stress on your fish by clearing up any injuries. Sure, we can live with a rash, but when we have other problems in addition to the rash, it sure makes things more stressful!

Also, I would treat at the same time for two reasons. The first being that the Melafix won't hurt your fish, so adding it doesn't really have any cons, assuming you're only using it to fix the skin problems (ie. don't add it all the time). Second reason is that the internal parasite problem is just that, internal, meaning that the two treatments won't conflict with each other. I'd hate to see you fix his IP problem, and then have him contract a fungal infection.

Agnate is right, I'd do the same now you have your puffer reacting to the treatment. I added melafix in my main tank to treat my puffer's eye irritation and the med didn't harm any bacteria neither anything else. I don't know Primafix, but Melafix works great!!

Can't add anything, but i wish you luck. Hope the guy makes it through the next few days, definitely get them both to eat food soaked in the meds... it's get inside them better

dartford should refund you your money, especially as you have photos of the state the fish arrived in.


If they don't, tell them you will tell everyone you know online how bad they are...

that'll scare them!
