Can your camera take videos? That might be clearer.

Try using a magnifying glass in front of the camera. Also, bright lights help too.

I would assume any kind of catfish could eat the fry.

i have something sad to say ...all my fry had died...i've tried everything...i guess i'll keep on trying when they mate again....

But if you can get to any of the fry and they're still in tact, would you mind taking some pictures? It would be easier to focus outside of the water, and you can try some of the tips, like the magnifying glass.

stuffing 5 f8's in a 20g makes them breed?

I would guess they are probably planeria.

F8's have never bred before in captivity? The owner of the store ALL ABOUT FISH in Long Beach, Ca claims to regularly breed his and I have seen F8s so small that I assumed they are fry. Is it safe to assume he is lying or meant the GSP or DP? Or could he be in fact breeding them?

Probably DPs or he's lying.

I think next time I go back there I will ask him more on the details. He has been 100% honest so far so maybe its DP's or something.

Are you sure they are F8s? That would be awesome if they are! Though you'd need a tank at least twice the size you have now. I'd say a 55 gallon is the minimum size you'd need to house 5 F8s.

Can you get any pictures? Even of the adults to verify the species. How big are your F8s? What are your parameters (nitrites, nitrates, pH, SG, etc)?

why so much skepticism? to say such a common species has 'never been bred in captivity' is a little too definite...

i guess the best way is to probably drop the brackish water to fresh if you notice fry.... and then raise them there and remove the adults to a brackish tank...

alteast that would make the most logical sense.

These are naturally FW species, and don't travel into brackish waters in the wild (not that I'm aware of)
so for them to breed in BW in captivity is a bit odd, and since there have been no recorded documentations of them breeding (Despite people trying) it's fairly safe to say it was a lie, or a different type of fish.
