Yeah, you need to thumb through that substrate and see if you can find him. Good Luck.

lol, what I meant was, I put food out 2 days ago. I didn't see much of it the next morning, hwoever, the redtail shark cleans up pretty well. I can't say for sure the Fahaka was the cause. So in making the statement, all I was saying was it has been a few days since he could have eaten. Although, some small snails are in the tank that are available.

It's just I haven't seen him AT ALL for 5 days or so. My roomate tries to keep an eye out for him because he diggs the fishtank and hasn't had a glimpse of him either.

I'll go search for him, I guess my question is it that likely that he is hiding for him to not pop out for 5 days?

I'm sorry, I wasn't sure if I should mess with his environment if it was a common theme by them. AND I FOUND HIM DEAD! I'm shocked and hurt at the same time... I don't know what happened... His water is fine and etc.

It's always discouraging, I hear they are tough to keep, but I have great filtration, water parameters are great.... I don't know.

Maybe someone can tell me where I went wrong, this is what was going on with my aquarium while I had him.

Received him in package, acclimated him by dripping water in a bucket for a 2 hour period. Soon treated him for IPs with Prazi-Pro. Dosage for my tank was 1 teaspoon/20gals, so I put in 5 teaspoons (for the actual water, not just size of tank). One dose was for a 3-5 day period. After 3 days, I dosed again. and then did water change. During that time, I put bloodworms in prazi-pro overnight and left in fridge. Fed him that way twice. Used pimafix/melafix for 3 days (until I ran out). My water has an extremely low buffer capacity. I belive my kH is 1. So I use baking soda to harden the water. I even read on here how it was okay to use and always have used it. So I usually keep my water around 4 degrees. I dosed it up after about 2 50% WC's to get it back up. Now it's about 4 degrees again.

That is all...

You don't think he was attacked by the tankmate?

The redtail shark is harmless, he hides ALL DAY and comes out at night to rummage for food. I can't say it is impossible, but I see it as being very unlikely. There's always the chance that it could have happened. And then the pleco, is of course harmless.

Again, a possibility, but not very likely.

well I thank you for the support. I'm looking through hospital forum and am thinking, "I feel bad even giving advice. Since I couldn't even take care of my own puffer."

Well don't feel that way. You did a great job! Sometimes things happen that we have no control over. Maybe he was sick, but it's not your fault. If you are knowledgeable then help others because the advice you have to give, might just save someone elses lovechop (puffer).

Sorry for your loss! He was tiny. Maybe he just could not handle the shipping at that size.
