It's so funny you said that. Our shower is right outside our bedroom and my hubby does the same thing to me! I've finally learned the sound of the shower so I just go back to sleep.

I do the same thing with the open tank in our bedroom.. if there is a splash in the night, or an unsual water sound i'm right there peering into the tank with my mobile phone light, counting fish, checking the pumps..
if my hubby knew he'd redicule me... so I don't tell him about my night time antics.

t1gerbee,
I just want to say a personal thanks to you for helping me with this whole hypo thing. I admit I was terrified! Elvis is doing so well and now that Daisy is eating again I feel much better about the whole thing. I even noticed more critters in my lr that I haven't seen before. Yes my lr is still in another tank.

To be honest I can't wait to get it back in there but I will take my time doing this. I will not rush! I will not rush! I will not rush! What I really wanted to say is: Thank you very much for putting my mind at ease and letting me sleep at night.
And a big thanks to everyone else that helped through the process. I almost feel like an ICh expert now.

you are welcome. I call all BIG stars and stripes 'Elvis' when i see them in LFS. so i couldn't sit by and watch their name sake suffer.
Nots sure about the ich/crypt thing, seems to be many names for the same thing.. then there is ick (freshwater) the latin name is best i supppose... Cryptocaryon irritans, but many people do call it ich still. ?

New update: The tank has "finally" recycled!

amm. 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10-20, ph 8.2-8.4.
The worst part is over! Haven't seen any spot's on Elvis in a while, everyone is eating good and begging for food as I type. Tomorrow is feeding day. I even have some algae growing in the tank. I normally wouldn't say that's a good thing but it's kind of nice to see something in there.

Even if it is algae. I've added some of the rock that had dried out and Daisy has been going from rock to rock. It's nice to see her moving around again. I still have 5 weeks of hypo to go, then I can start raising the sg again. I'm so excited that the cycle is finally over.
Up until today I have been doing daily 55 gallon water changes. Some days I did two, depending on their test results. This is sure going to help my pocket book.

Even at an sg of 1.009 I have going through a 150 gallon bucket of salt a week.

I'll still test the water daily to keep an eye on things but I won't have to do the daily water changes anymore.
"YEAH"

I'll update if there are any more changes.

More than I wanted to know & still learning.

Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

I have to say that puffer's are definately a challenge in more ways than one.

He's doing great. I extended hypo for a few more weeks. All my rock is still in another tank and a tub. Just two more weeks and I'll start raising his sg.
