I went out this morning, as usual, to feed my neighbor's unwanted cats and found one of them dead in the driveway

He was an awesome kitty and it sucks that his owner didn't even care. He was elderly and I think he was in kidney failure but he was never vetted so who knows? I had to go to work and his owner was home but wouldn't answer the door, so I called animal control to pick up and cremate the kitty. The city will bill his owner, who will probably be pissed but I really don't care. People who don't take care of their pets make me so mad...

Wow Flutter, how do you keep up with it all? You've certainly got a full plate, as they say.
And to Carmen: I agree totally with you and I've always had a pet peeve with cat owners that allow their cats to roam loose. It's been proven that cats that roam free are more likely to be hurt or killed than those that stay in the house. And not only that, but I used to have a neighbour that had cats and they would put them out, and the cats would come over and poop in my flowerbeds. I started removing the poop and putting it on the neighbour's doorstep, and believe it or not, they got the message pretty quick. But I know if I let my dogs run free, it would be an entirely different story. People need to be responsible for their pets. And if you care about them, why let them run loose where they can be hurt?
Sorry for the rant there.

Somehow I missed that before! You'll be back on your feet soon enough, glad it's finally over with and you can be on the road to recovery. Hopefully you won't be sick anymore!

I'm going home today, still really sore etc but better than the other day... Apparently it was the size of a melon, twisted 3 times and was blood clotting, yum lol. I have such a sore neck not sure why and I'm walking like an old woman lol.

That's good that you are going home so quickly. When I had my operation done, they made me stay for 5 days, I was going stir-crazy by the time they let me finally go home.
You will get better soon, I'm sure!

The sooner you get out of that disease-ridden hospital, the better! Do everything the Dr tells you to do to heal & put vitamin E on the scar (poke a hole in a capsule & squeeze it on).

Your sore neck is probably due to crappy hospital beds and pillows LOL.
Sounds like it was about time to get that thing out. Hope you have a speedy recovery

We went down to an LFS that usually has a few different puffers, but surprisingly they only had 3 species today. They had a few irrubesco puffers, 1 small Fahaka that looked like he had IP's (very lumpy belly), and a group of what might be A silus or modestus. They were much smaller than my nefastus, and they all had fat bulging bellies --which I wasn't sure was from over-eating or something else? It didn't look right. They were cute, but something about those bellies didn't sit right with me.
Anyway, I ended up getting 3 Amano shrimp to go with my other ones, 2 Bumblebee gobies and a pair of irrubesco (one male and one female). I asked the man if he could please get me one male and one female of the irrubesco and he turns and says to me, "That's not possible", and I looked at my husband, and asked the man "why?" He then says, "at their age, you cannot tell one from the other", and that's when I went over and pointed out the differences between the males and the female. Even if he wasn't sure which was which, surely he would notice that 4 looked very different from one of them (there were 4 males and 1 female). I will just say quickly that this is a LFS that I had bad problems with several months ago, and I think this particular employee is always going to give me trouble. I just want to be able to walk in, buy whatever fish I want and walk out without any hassle, and that's why I don't engage them in any conversation about puffers or anything else for that matter. The husband started going into how we've got all these puffers and I just nudged him to make him shut up.
When I got home, I totally re-decorated my irrubesco tank, because I was getting tired of looking at it the way it was. I don't know if it's the lighting or what, but it's one of those tanks that you can clean it, do a water change and tomorrow it's going to look like it's dirty again. I don't understand why. I am going to change the light tomorrow I think, see if that makes any difference.

Thanks everyone, does feel a lot better with it out only thing that hurts now is from the cut and soreness I don't have a silly pain anymore. I'm doing pretty good I just feel dizzy and weak all the time, I've only had a few painkillers this morning. The cut looks horrible it's all lumpy and fat, I'm sure it'll flatten out though, the nurses where really mean they treated me like a child all the time and told me loads of lies like 'if you don't stand up straight it'll heal closer together and you'll never walk again' hmmm ok then haha :p my mum said 'shes in pain she can stand up straighter when she's ready her cut will heal the same either way' and she was like I know And walked off.
And thanks PP I'll remember about the vitamin e.
All of my cherry shrimp died >_< there was only a few left though so I have an empty small tank now.

I'm glad for you that it's over with. With the lump being so big and involved, it'll take time to recover... Just don't push yourself too hard and it'll heal faster.
Sorry about your shrimp

I had to go to the store and pick up a few things... I think my tank still looks... bare... so I stopped by the fish section...
They had a few plants on sale... so I picked up a few 'betta bowl plants' as they are called... it's a 2 pack, a floating flower and a...flowering cheesy looking plant... I might not use these.
I also got two tall xxl fake plants, and a log that had some fake foilage. Hoping that more color will help make my tank look a little better, we'll have to see. They are currently hiding in my trunk, I'll have to bring them in sometime LOL... (shh don't tell!)

My brand new red Congo puffer died. I'm just so sad, I never had a fish die within 24 hrs of getting it home before. I drove 2.5 hrs to pick her up, and she was doing fine, I thought. Then this morning....
