Tank Space & SAPs

I usually just read the articles here as I'm still new to the aquatic world. I sold my 46gal tank to get a bigger one, 75gal. I read on here about the fish-less cycle and am currently undergoing that process.

I intend on getting South American Puffers but am stuck on how many to get. I'd rather hold 4 or 5 so they can enjoy the free space to roam. However I have read on here how its more important to have a group of them in the tank.

The actual water the tank holds is around 60 gallons. I would love to have 6 puffers, but I don't' want to overcrowd them either.

Should I just stick with 5 of them? or would they prefer 6? maybe 7? Not sure, so I'm asking.

5 sounds like a good number to start with, they'll school together when swimming and are very active so ensure plenty of free swimming room in the tank.

I think 5 or 6 sounds good, as they are the social puffers if all is well and water conditions stay very good(chronically low nitrates) you could conclude bioload is still fine and add more.

Hey Bleys I would gor for 5 personally, you'll have a better chance keeping the tank stable and still get to see them schooling and being cool

whats goin on man! My tank finally started showing some results as far as showing nitrites and nitrates, won't be long!

I am thinking at least 5. I'm still debating on whether or not to get 6. I think it'll come down to how I feel when I place an order,

I'm over-filtering quite sufficiently. Doing a fishless cycle, so the bacteria will be able to handle the load once they arrive. I feel confident in my setup. And the design, a lot of small to mid-size plants to give them some exploration. plus 2 pieces of driftwood. The top half of the tank is open for them to get their exercise.

Its my first for these puffers, so we'll see what I need to redo or rethink. However, there is a lot of info on here that helped me get started!

oh, and the snail tank should be coming along here soon.

yeah 5 should do. I think they will be happy together in the tank with space and each other.
