well it's been about for days sense i got my arrow head puffers and they have been fine together sitting in different caves the whole time ( they where also in the same tank at the pet store ). then tonight the smaller of the two keeps trying to go in the bigger ones cave and lay on his head . the bigger on is getting lighter instantly and fanning out his tail fin then once in a awhile he nips at the small one he doesn't seem to be hurting the little one at all there is no damage and the little one barley moves out of the way. im wondering if i should separate them at this point or return one to the pet store or is this normal behavior ? any suggestions would help out allot cuz im really worried about the little guy at this point.

I would definitely separate them, whether its moving one to another cycled tank or taking it back to the store. Most puffers, arrowheads included, do not do well with others and need to be in solo tanks.

Yes, many have killed each other, even while trying to breed, unluess in a very large tank with lots of broken lines of sight. Even then, if you have 2 males... :yikes:

thanks guys i wish the guys at the pet shop had any clue about what they where talking about every bit of information they told me was wrong including what type of puffer it was meh. and yes that is my shop im the one with the busted eye

Juveniles have been seen laying on top of each other when rest, sort of like a Suvattii wall, it's possible the smaller one is trying to do this but the larger one is having none of it.

well i have an update i watched them carefully thru the night and as it turns out the big guy seems to have warmed up to the little guy. there is no more color changes, tail fanning , or nipping they are now both laying in the same dwelling taking turn laying on each others heads there even swimming together so im no so worried any more . none of the big guys nips did any damage either so for now i will just keep a close eye on it.
