I have a GSP and I was reading a book on them which said you should put 2 teaspoons of un-iodized table salt per each quart of water. I am just wondering if this really works for them. If not which salt should I use and how much should I use to make brackish water?
Thank you for the help.
Can I use table salt

Table salt, non-odized salt, aquarium salt, whatever, do not provide the minerals such as calcium and magnesium, nor the natural buffers such as carbonates and bicarbonates which are required to provide the osmolarity, pH, GH, and KH which GSPs or other brackish water fish need and require for health and long life.
IMHO, the book in which you read that in was providing incorrect and damaging information. That in itself would condem that book for me. If the author knows that little about brackish water, and yet is willing to publish material which is contrary to fact, I would not want to trust their advice.
Brackish water is made with marine mix, just as is used for saltwater aquaria, just more dilute than full-strength saltwater.

Thank you for your replies. I will go and get some marine salt asap. There is so much confusion when it comes to GSP's, its seems that not to many books or websites can agree on if they need brackish water or fresh water, if you should use table salt or marine salt and so on. I am glad there is a website like this one where you can talk to real people that own the same fish and we can help one another out.
