Well I know that takifugu is not freshwater, but they had three HUGE (no orange bands, black instead) what they were calling fugu puffers in freshwater. I am not sure this is takifugu, but you can judge for yourself, each being over a a foot and half in length.

Its a saltwater puffer, but I've seen them locally quite a bit lately, in fresh and brackish.

Looks very possible, but these were huge, as big or even bigger than a fahaka.

It's Takifugu obscurus
Can grow 40cm+

They dont have the yellow band along the stomach that usually accompanies the obscurus.

oh, thats an obscurus for sure. if it really looked like that, it is an obscurus. the picture did not look like on to me...?

Yea this is how they looked, just the black on the back went further around the body than those in boxermoms link..but the face and the way the mouth is def are exactly the same.
