large freshwater puffer

Post by xstar »

I was looking into getting a fahaka puffer with no luck. i was wondering if there is anything else close to its size that i could get for my 135 gallon. Right now i have an Oscar,JD,a few tin foils, and a plec. in it and was looking for something different. I would not mine having a single fish in it if it was a large one.

Check out the pufferpedia, it shows a variety of puffers available and some info on them.

Depending on the footprint of the tank, you could do 2 or three Palembang's puffers, and have a chance at breeding with enough refuges and visual breaks in the tank. The lurkers are more likely to allow conspecifics than many hunters. But they are not nearly as active as hunters. They spend much time resting in a cave or under an overhang. Arrowheads/pignose should be similar, but do not have as exotic markings. Not at all the effect of a fahaka tank

Fahakas show up occasionally on aquabid.com. You could ask your LFS if they could order one for you.

If you go the site http://www.waterwolves.com, you might be able to find soomeone selling a fahaka in the Buy/Sell forum.

well,i just hung up with all LFS within 150 mills and non has or can get a fahaka. Guess ill stick to this GSP in my 55gal. I was wanting a dogface, but did not want to make my 135 into a saltwater. Casting a lot just for this 55gal. So,i was thinking the next best thing would be the Fahaka.
Its just the standerd 135 size, 6'x18"x2' i think. Its an oceanic show tank.
Well,thanks for all the help
