mollies, gobies,and a crab

mollies, gobies,and a crab

Ok guys, just thinking about setting up a little light brackish community. Three (more likely 2 due to space issues) balloon mollies, 2 bumble bee gobies, and a fiddler crab in a 10 gallon. I am thinking about sand and plants but this may be a little too much for me. Also, I already have the ten gallon but i might have to get a 15 gallon (I probably need to lower the water level to allow for the crab to exit the water via large rock). If you guys see anything horrendous about my idea let me know. Will the crab hurt my gobies? I want something small with cool creatures on my desk to distract me from writing papers this quarter. And I love those mollies.

Crabs are oppourtunistic feeders & may catch the BBGs. You might be able to get away w/a female though (small claws).

ya, I would like to use a knight goby or 2 but I fear that they are two big for my little set up. And do you guys think that the 15 is a must over the 10? It's important because it means acquiring another tank ( which I would do) but using the 10 would be cool seeing as I already have it. I also have 2 little 10 gallon sized filters and was planning on sticking them both on.

You're going to have to reduce the amount of water in the tank already if you add the Fiddler Crab (needs access to air), so I'd go with a larger tank than the 10. That's just me though. :P

Fiddler crabs are also brackish.

Personally I think mollies get too big for a 10 gallon tank, but that's just me. A lot of people keep them that way.

Thanks Guys, I was thinking that I really wasn't comfortable sticking all those fish in there. I'll start hunting for a bigger one.
