Tetraodon Cochinchinensis Successful breeding
I have successfully managed to raise another batch of fangs puffer (Tetraodon Cochinchinensis) babies and they are officially eating frozen food and growing rapidly. My first few batches ultimately resulted in one surviving puff, this round I have 35-40 happy healthy little puffs. Now I am faced with the question of what now?! I certainly can’t house this many of them to full size that would be insane and my lfs can realistically only take so many especially considering I know that unfortunately most will ultimately die due to unprepared and uninformed customers buying them and not knowing how to properly care for them. Honestly I doubt my lfs will manage to keep many alive as they are almost guaranteed to plop a group into an bare tank with some gravel and maybe 1 sad excuse for a decoration, in a tank that’s far too small. While these little guys and gals are especially tolerant of one another they are still aggressive and without a heavily planted tank they will attack one another as puffers do. I’m at a loss for ideas on what to do with these little buggers. Also after all my trials and errors and close watch and study of these guys I want to change the narrative that there is no visible difference between males and females because that is not true there is absolutely visible traits that tell you what the sex of these fish are, size is the most obvious but also temperament and spotting patterns. I have spent several years working on these guys and love them dearly so if anyone has any hints to point me in the right direction on what to do with all these babies and how to go about changing the general information available to people in these guys I would greatly appreciate anything you have to share. Thank you and hope everyone who reads this is having a lovely day.
