Hello,
I have heard that juvenile female pea puffers can turn into males when the colony needs a dominate male. I'm looking for more information about this cycle so that I can begin to breed them. I have 5 female puffers that I got as juveniles from my local fish store. I have had them for 4 months now. I am wondering how long it takes for this biological change to take place? I have two dominate females, is it possible that one of them or both will transition into males? or is it possible that it is too late for this change to occur?
Thank you for any information or resources about this fish and its maturation!

Fake news. Most you can hope is that as they grow from juvies to adults & become sexually mature, there may be a more identifiable male in the bunch.
