Bent puffer!!!

Post by cds333 »

Why is this little guy bent?!?

I got him from the LFS this time, after my last GSP from walmart did not survive. This guy came with mouth fungus, which I treated with mel/pim treatment. But now he is bent!

He spends an inordinate amount of time parked with his belly on the sand; I don't know if this is because swimming is more difficult for him due to his suboptimal hydrodynamic profile or because he is ill.

Is this normal? Or perhaps he is host to a parasite that is growing in his left intestine?

How can I straighten him?

Thanks!

He's emaciated! Is he eating?

He could be eating more... but emaciation would be symmetrical, wouldn't it? This guy is definitely not symmetrical - here he is from the aerial view.

I have read through that before. A quick re-read and I didn't notice anything about parasites causing contortions of the spine.

btw it also says that signs of parasites are both "frantic for food" and "loss of appetite" lol

I have been doing this a very, very long time. Emaciation will look exactly like what you have there.
