The tank's empty? How are you keeping it cycled? How large is it?

20L brackish has been cycled with dead shrimp/fish foods I put stuff in daily. (Figure 8) Been running for about 6 weeks. Tank for Buddha is freshwater, 29 gallon, cycling with filter media from another long established freshwater tank, been running for about 2 weeks. I do have a bottle of Safestart on hand. I have API liquid freshwater and saltwater test kits

Hope not to sound patronising but your 29 gallon, you are feeding the established filter media daily?

Yep, Trevor I put fish food flakes in every day. I tested the water just a while ago:
Ph - 7.6
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 5.0 ppm
Temp. 82F

This is the 29 gallon. I put a little instant ocean in with my water change, SG barely readable 1.001
Thanks for asking, you are not patronizing me, I appreciate help. Sometimes things are overlooked on my end and I am glad members bring up questions so I can keep my puffs happy and healthy!

You're gonna need a much bigger tank eventually.

Yes, I've been looking at an acrylic 120 gal. tank, 48x24x24. I've always had glass tanks; are acrylic tanks lighter in weight than glass? I was thinking that they were, as I have tanks already that weigh a lot, for this old farmhouse lol

Sad news....he passed away. He arrived very thin and kind of weak. I couldn't get him to eat. I tried live earthworms, live blackworms (which he was supposed to be eating) clams, Mysis, bloodworms, squid, plankton, even Mysis. Even with garlic he wouldn't touch anything. Water perameters were checked twice a day, lights were off to relieve stress, etc. He was packed very well and I picked him up at the post offce - overnight delivery-but I couldn't save him. Probably loaded with IPs as wild caught, but he wouldn't eat. Dangled food on a thread in water column. Tried all I could, reading suggestions on this great forum, but in vain. I am so sad! He was so cute. Did get credit for him but not too sure I want to try anything online again :( :( :(
