Amazon Puffer Impostor?

Post by JayEmpty »

Does this dude/dudette look like an Amazon Puffer to you? (Please see attached image.)

This was sold to me as an Amazon Puffer. However, when I double checked on the internet as to how an Amazon Puffer looks like, this dude/dudette doesn't seem to look like it. I have two of them and they both look the same.

Could it be an impostor?

It has stripes, but very dull. I'll take another shot from a higher angle tomorrow. :-)

pufferjw, thanks for the confirmation and Pufferpunk, thanks for the links, especially the Puffer Dentristy. I've read them a lot of of times and dread the day that I would have to do them myself. I might have a heart attack just from the stress. 😂

They are very active. Do they ever stop moving?

Also, is it a good idea to have Amazon Puffers in a 33 gallon long tank? How many?

Thanks again... as always.

In a 33 gallon, I would do a group of 3 as long as there are not other tankmates.

Just a follow-up question. How about a 40 long? Will it be enough for 4 Amazon Puffers?

Thanks.

Yeah, that would probably be fine as long as filtration is good.

Thanks. I am planning to do that, hopefully around mid of this year.
