Post by NJD »

Howdy!

one of my fave LFS have got a cross river puffer in!! I know these are often confused with spotted fahakas. What do you guys think??

They're currently asking for £1000!! I am a regular there so they may just let is go a little cheaper

Thanks

Looks good. Think this probably is one. Also try a forum search for this species. Lots of discussion in the past.

Oh wow that definitely looks like a true T. Pustulatus to me. I say go for it, probably the rarest species of freshwater puffer there is aside from the ones like P. Barbatus that people aren't that interested in.

I am very tempted, but need to figure out exactly where to house it!!

I have a 3 footer that is immediately available, but don't currently have any spare 5/6 footers without moving around a few different tanks.

would 3x1.5 ft do temporarily?

Temporarily, yes. However, you will need pretty soon need a tank with a MINIMUM footprint 6' x 2', like a standard 125.

I've made a very brave decision - closing down two of of my 3 footers to make room for a new 6 footer for the pustulatus!! I'll keep you up to date
