Very nice! If I can not get some red eye puffer once my new tank is up and running, I will try to find some schoutedeni....young ones seems to sell for around 50€ ATM, still above what I'd like to pay but it's getting better...

They are absolutely tiny right now, less than an inch. They are going to be fed well, unsure if these guys are slow growers/maturers or not. One has more vivid spots, time will tell if I have a male and female (that would be amazing if I did)

@gkai - I was trying to source these or irrubescos, these guys came up on 3 LFS order lists, the irrubescos no one could find :/

50 euros?! That is a VERY good price! Mine were double that in £££s

@pufferpunk - could I ask how your trio interacted with each other? There has been some minor chasing today (mostly over snails).

Nice little guys

To answer your question

Yes I only had the dwarf geos in there. They did not bother the puffers but the puffers just didn’t like having them around.

You’ll get chases and nipping especially when foods out

Otherwise mine get along great

@PUFFWHO - thank you for that, glad to hear yours are getting along great :)

Now I've had mine for a couple of weeks, they have really settled in, eating well. Tong and spot feeding has lessened the squabbles and they do a bit of chasing but only off "their spot". This weekend I gained a ton more plants to fill the gaps and break more line of sight up, so fingers crossed!

I have and want to add a second one myself. Right now he is with an Archer fish, eel, and bristle nose pleco. Weird combo but will eventually change to 2 schoutdeni and a group of rummy nose tetra or cardinal neons.

They do seem to like to be with others of their own species.

Both are doing well as a bit of an update.

At the moment they are in with cardinal tetras and guppies. Unfortunately their "starve days" have coincided every time with a cardinal disappearing...so I am down to 2 now and don't think I will add more. They really object to not being fed. Very fixated on snails and frozen bloodworm. No longer will eat fresh shrimp even in garlic juice. Need to order some earthworms soon. Daphnia shrimp they will take if starving.

I will have to see if the rest of the tank mates make it and thinking of adding the plecs in a month or two.

They are absolutely stunning and funny puffs. We are now on greeting and begging terms. They are absolutely fearless as when cleaning plant debris to the tank, occasionally having to nudge their curious bods out the way.

I am in puff love with these two.
