finally i have my puffer!! is the species right?

Post by afoifa »

After months of searching I have him home, managed to snap a quick pic ,

I rang around over 25 stores but on a drive home today thought I'd pop into a garden center and they had these labeled as figure 8, but thought they look more like the gsp I was actually after.

I had snails already living in the tank and he went hunting straight away, lovely white stomach and very alert , I've left the light off now till tomorrow, going to raise salinity from next week.

Do I treat for ip? Just incase? If so what meds do I use? Bear in mind I live in the uk.
G
Also can you confirm it is a gsp? Sorry for the pic he is lively and camera is bad

I've been advised not to treat for IP unless there are symptoms.

There seem to be loads of these larger ones around the UK at the moment, I go t my 2 from a local fish shop who said they were fresh water, but spoke to another fish shop who said they came in full marine. And they have the same supplier.

It does no harm to treat as a precaution. Make sure you get a suitable med to treat his food. Better to be safe than sorry
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

AH OK, in which case I'll be treating my latest 2. The little ones look really healthy, but the bigger ones have constantly changing dark bellies, sometimes white and sometimes very dark. Even though I've started the change to marine from fresh.

Black bellies don't always mean stress...they turn black for numerous reasons.
