Aiptasia are taking over my tank!!!

Post by El Scorpio »

Hey guys. Got a little Aiptasia problem here, okay a big one. They're taking over! I've been using Zaptasia, which does seem to work, but it seems like for every one I kill with the stuff three more pop up for the funeral. They're really getting out of hand now, and some of them are quite big. There's currently nothing in my tank right now (except freaking Aiptasia) but the things are really turning into a scourge. Not sure if I'm using the zaptasia wrong or if there's something else I need to try. Help!

Get a Copperband butterfly or Green filefish.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Ive heard that a lot of people have had luck with peppermint shrimp, although ive heard if you want to go that route you need to get a group of them, more than 3, so ive heard.

I seem to have bad luck with saltwater shrimp... Had 2 peppermints before I got Lila, and they either died or disappeared. Then I got two cleaner shrimp for the tank after I got Lila and the bigger one disappeared... But the other one is still there.

5 yard penalty for necrothreading. By the way, aiptasia problem solved - due to unforseeable life events (much to my disappointment and frustration, I might add,) my tank has been torn down and is currently sitting in a storage unit along with my live rock, which is quite devoid of any such life at the moment. Apparently, the best way to kill an aiptasia outbreak in a saltwater aquarium is to remove the saltwater itself from the equation.
