Stocking ideas for my 40 gallon breeder
Well guys, it happened again - I lost my little GSP back in January, and today my bullet goby kicked the bucket, so my tank has zero fish in it. I'm gonna do some work in it (and smash some bristle worms while I'm at it) and then restock it, but wanted some ideas as to what would be good fish for the tank. It's a 40 gallon wide (breeder). Doesn't have to be a puffer - I'll probably put one in eventually but I think right now I'm looking for a little variety, and something different. It is a saltwater FOWLR (more like an OWLR at the moment, but, y'know.)
I appreciate any suggestions you have.

If you have sand, then I've always like the goby with shrimp pair.
Also I think the midas blenny have an amazing ribbon-like swimming pattern when I saw one in a fellow hobbyists' tank. Its the only fish I'm considering for my coral-only tank.

Why are you smashing beneficial creatures? A large species froggie would be great!
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Nope, I'm actually selling off everything in my reefs, as we will be moving cross-country in a year.

Bristle worm populations will grow with their food source, I love my bristle worms. Set a trap and move them to your sump/ sell some. Put a longnose hawkfish in there as they are just amazing fish, perhaps some sort of wrasse too. Some wrasses feed on bristle worms, my six line loves them
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

I have a yellow leaf fish, he's pretty amazing... You could do a few small scorps

My LFS has a stonefish for sale. They have a big skull and crossbones drawn next to his name, too.

I would get a stonefish, but... the effects of verrucotoxin are rather terrifying if you research it.
If I did, though, I would name him "Kill You." Mr. Timn would be proud.
