Mr Big and Romeo; two GSPs, have turned out to be very finicky eatters. They live in a high brackish tank (1.020)- so theres not much live food (other than ghost shrimp) that seem to be able to live in there. Now- they love their freeze dried baby shrimp and krill. Bloodworms they reject and snails, they turn their nose up at whether theyre crushed or not. I do feed them extra smal frozen shrimp (thawed of course). But I saw this bag of mixed seafood, which I bought thinking theyd enjoy it.
Here is a list of what is in it (frozen)
Octopus
Cuttlefish
Squid
Shrimp
Clams or mussels
Would any of these items be bad for Mr Big and Romeo?
Can I feed my GSPs this?

Re: Can I feed my GSPs this?
As long as it is raw ( not pre cooked) then mixed bags from the grocery store are fine. Krill should only be given rarely to never as fish can get addicted to it, they then refuse everything else and could potentially get lockjaw. To me the risk is too great and puffers do not get it under my care. Try not feeding for a couple of days before reintroducing things like bloodworm, soaking food in garlic also helps them take to new foods. A varied diet is a healthy diet.
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Try raw shell on crayfish (shell crushed up a bit), chunks of crab legs (shell crushed up a bit), live earth worms or raw shell on shrimp or prawns.
My gsps don't like octopus or squid, I think they find it too chewy.
Most of those mixed seafood bags are usually cooked in some way, especially the mussels.
Clams an mussels are good choices if the are raw and still have shells (open up the shell for them to get to the meat, they still will chew the shell)

Please be sure to defrost everything you feed to your puffers. I soak in a fish vitamin, too.
Be sure you try your best to get crunchy foods into them or you'll be doing some dentistry.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, just wanted to ask something related. Have you tried insects? Like flies, ants etc. As long as they are free of insecticides ..
