Steal of a Deal

Post by GreatPumpkinator »

Wow, so, in my very first post here, I mentioned that I had a F8 puffer in my office, but he needed a larger tank, since he was just in a 10 gallon...and dang did I get a steal of a deal this weekend.

Someone was having a moving sale, and didn't want to move the fish tanks that he had, and was selling them, along with the fish too.

So, here's what I got: 2, yes that's 2, 55 Gallon Tanks, and 1 40 Gallon Tank. 2 Large filters, 1 for each of the 55 Gallon Tanks. The fish they gave me were all in 1 of the 55 Gallon Tanks (I'm sure you're going to say something like "Holy carp, you need to separate these guys...."), but here's what I got: 2 Dempsey Cichlids, 1 Red Devil, 1 Irredescent Shark, and 1 Pacu. The fish have been living in the same tank for some 6 year, and actually get along (for the most part, the Red Devil is a, well, Devil sometimes). They also gave us the iron Tank Stand that holds the 2 55 Gallon Tanks.

All that cost me a whopping $100.

So anyways, I'll have a 40 Gallon Tank to put my puffer in now (and, of course, I'm getting 2 more, hehe).

Time for some real fun now.

Most of those fish are seriously stunted, I'm afraid...

At least you know the fish need separated, but the damage is already done. Great deal though. Wish I could get a deal like that.

Yeah, I realize that the fish are screwed, and there's nothing that I can do about it. Honestly, I'm probably going to be getting rid of the fish anyways since I'm not really fond of any of them. Poor fishies.

You probably could find a LFS that would take them from you and probably give you cash or more likely store credit if anything. Try to see if you can move those guys out ASAP cause each of those fish get too big for the tank they are in let alone mixed together.

But for the dry goods you got a good price.

I think my father-in-law wants to keep the Red Devil, which he's going to keep in one of the 55 Gallon Tanks by itself. The other fish, we'll probably sell off to either a LFS, or place a classified ad and sell them to someone local.

Great buy. I used to buy my tanks used. Never got one that leaked, I was very lucky from what I've seen on these boards. Have you considered what your putting in the other tanks?

The other 55 Gallon, we're not sure yet, we may go salt-water with it...maybe a lionfish? We have no clue, really :).

The 40 Gallon is coming to work with me, and will house 3 F8's.

A Dwarf lion maybe in the 55, but anything in the lion family other than a dwarf gets 18inches, and gets big around as a football without the fins.
