That's good. I have 3 x AC110s & 1 x Eheim 2217 (I think that's the size)

that's the best of both worlds right there. AquaClears and an Eheim on the same tank. Can't go wrong with that.

Absolutely. Mine runs a eheim 2329, eheim 2028, and a sunsun. Over filtering is key with these messy beasts lol
It's amazing how easy maintenance is. If done regularly and thoroughly

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
Here's a thread about his white stringy poop: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=29509&p=319935#p319935
I'm thinking about dropping 1 FX5 and 2 AC. Then replace them with a sump/refugium area for floating plants, low light plants, Pond Matrix, and/or Sera Siporax. Flow would be ~1000gph (maybe more) through the sump/fuge and keep the other FX5 for another 1000gph. The tank looks cluttered with all the tubes sticking out everywhere and my little guy is chewing up his plants (java fern and water lettuce).

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
I sold both AC 110 and one of the FX5. Then I used the money to buy 20L of pond matrix. Shipment will arrive on Friday. I'll dump all of it into a 40g or 50g breeder tank (sump) and run a circulation pump to circulate the water. Growing all the bacteria before I implement the sump. Then I will drill my tank when the cycle is complete.
No plants in the sump since the flow will be 30-40 times the volume of the sump. I'll consider algae scrubber in the future and Purigen when Barney gets bigger. If the sump gets over 1200gph, then I'll get rid of the last FX5. It takes too long to clean every week (~20mins is too long for me LOL).
Fun project so far.

Quick picture update after 2 months:
The stuff on the bottom of the tank is leftover sand. I'm currently working on a sand switch. PITA.

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
The sand was very difficult taking out. At the time of the pictures above, I took out half of the sand. It was so hard. I hurt my back doing it and had to postpone. 1-2 weeks ago, I finished taking all the sand out. I never realized how difficult it is to take out 100lbs of sand. Tomorrow, I will drill the tank for a Glass-hole overflow. Barney is not in the tank at the moment and currently occupies a 32g trash bin.
I'll update soon when I get everything up and running.

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
Today I had a few members of my family to help me carry the 120g from my living room to the garage. Then we cleaned the tank and flipped it onto its side. Just when I got everything ready, I couldn't allow myself (or the other family members) to drill my beautiful & expensive tank I played the waiting game for an hour, ate lunch, and then waited another 30mins until calling it a done project.
Lots of work, but I'm done. I'll just keep my canister and re-attempt to do a nicely planted tank.

Re: Say Hello to this Fahaka
It got drilled today Tough and scary, but possible to do. I had a great day so far. Now I need to go look for a 40g breeder tank to use for a sump.
Kind regards,
