I imagine you'd QT it in something smaller for a few weeks.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

Well, I would not use it for QT. But puffers are bright and curios fish and they do learn about feeding in captivity very quickly IME.

I doubt that I will ever "move up" any fish again after QT. I have given up that poor to bad practice as an excellent way to stunt fish.
