Hello

I am a pufferfish keeper from Australia.

I am wondering what species of pufferfish this is?

From what can be seen (the details of the face and nasal organs are not visible on the pics) it looks like a Contusus species. There are two species described: Contusus brevicaudus and Contusus richei with the first looking more similar to the pics.

The more common Tetractenos glaber and T. hamiltoni looks similar but the latter has smaller spots and the first generally a colored tail fin.

Toadfish is just another common name for a species of puffer. Follow Corvus'

Corvus is the best at ID. Maybe with a better pic of your fish?

Yes, the one in the video is the same as in your pics and the same as in the first of the links above. Don't be confused by the common name toadfish, which is traditionally used in Australia for a lot of puffer species as well as other fish. The ones here are true puffers. You can call it Australian shorttail puffer if you like that better.

It gets around 25 cm (10 inches), is marine, subtropical and lives mostly in estuaries and bays.

Cheers, does anyone know if it normal for the pufferfish to swim up and down the glass crazily? It only stops this when I give it food. It never does anything else which is quite annoying. I have had him now for three days and was wild caught.

This is a classic stress or boredom symptom. If after a while he does not stop add more visually complex decor. It's probably stress from the move though
